Check the weather forecast: Know what to expect before you head out and plan accordingly. If there are extreme temperatures or a blizzard forecasted, it may be best to reschedule your trip.
Set up camp in a sheltered area: Look for a spot that is protected from the wind and snow. This will make your campsite more comfortable and help keep you warm.
Know how to start a fire: In the winter, it's essential to have a way to warm up and cook food. Practice starting a fire before you head out and bring plenty of fire starters and dry wood.
